2009年9月1日よりスタートしたLAのブランド。アートスクールの学生から香りの世界に入ったまだ若くてイケメンのBrent Leonesioが立ち上げたブランドで、10種類のパフュームオイルでデビューです。香料は世界中の高価な精油とアブソリュートを使用しているようですが、100パーセントではなくてきちんとムスクを使用しています。質の良い香料を限りなく沢山使用して、お茶目で楽しい香りを作り出すこと、それがテーマのようです。高価すぎるものではなくともきちんと質の良い香が楽しめるよう、買えるようにすることが彼にとっての目標だそうで、製品は手にしやすい8mlが20ドルというなんともカジュアルな価格です。ただし、最初の10種の香りの中にはとても高価な花精油はあまり使用されておらず、数種類のムスクさえあれば出来るのかも、と思わせてくれる手作り感が魅力です。(グルマン系な香りたちは天然香料ばかりとは限りませんが・・・)タイトルもありきたりなビューティー系のものではなく、遊び心のある楽しいものとなっていますよ。もうホントに、底抜けに明るいアメリカンテイストのブランドで、香水らしい香水じゃなくたって楽しめるものは作れるんだと胸を張って遊んでいる、という雰囲気が伝わります。

ブランドがスタートして2週間でサンプルを含めた注文はオーストラリア、イスラエル、日本、ノルウェー、イギリスとロシアと世界に広がっていた様子で、驚きと喜びをブログで語っています。サンプルは1つ3.75ドルですが、5つで15ドルとなります。10個だと送料5ドルで35ドルとなります。パフュームオイルだけあってどれもかなり持続しますよ。(25/09/09)

11月初旬にはホリデーの香りのシリーズを発売予定。(→5種発売となりました)現在取り組んでいるのはアニマルシリーズの香り。その後はキャンドルやバスラインも揃えていくつもりのようですよ。EDPバージョンも予定しているのだとか。「高くて美しいものを作るのは、安くて美しいものを作るより簡単だ、でも僕は挑戦するのが好きなんだ」という彼の将来が楽しみなブランドです。(17/10/2009)

12年間で150種もの香りを手がけてきたSmell Bentですが、7月末を以てブランドは終了となりました。(14/06/2022)
